Family Facilitator
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in social work, counseling, or psychology (masters, preferred, or bachelors degree)
- Experience working with families with infants and toddlers
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

- Demonstrates ability to communicate and interact sensitively and effectively with parents, infants and toddlers, program staff and the community

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses strengths and needs of families
- Facilitates a supportive learning environment for families that has a multicultural and family literacy focus
- Plans, implements and evaluates parent education and social support groups for families
- Integrates positive parenting and appropriate behavior management strategies into the playgroups
- Facilitates parent involvement at a variety of levels throughout the program
- Consults with staff regarding individual family strengths and needs
- Acts as a liaison for children and families with community organizations and agencies
- Develops and refines curriculum materials to be shared with others that reflect best practices
INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as a service coordinator and home visitor for up to 30 children and their families
- Organizes and maintains child and family records needed to facilitate programming and comply with ISBE requirements
- Assesses child and family strengths and needs and develops parent/partnership agreements
- Monitors development of children throughout the year and refers children for further evaluations as needed
- Facilitates child development and reinforces emergent literacy focus on home visits using consumable toys, books, and writing utensils
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Protects the privacy and confidentiality of information regarding children, families and colleagues
- Develops an annual plan for professional growth
- Strives for personal and professional excellence, seeking and using new information and ideas, and responding openly to the suggestions of others
