SQUEAK TOYS AND RATTLES

Play with an assortment of squeak toys and rattles. Help Baby choose toys with different colors, shapes, sizes, and textures. Help Baby to hold, mouth, pat, bang, shake, wave and squeak the toys. Cover the toys with a cloth and play peek-a-boo.

FACE TO FACE INTERACTIONS

Smile and talk to Baby. Pause and wait for Baby to respond by vocalizing or moving. "Answer" Baby back. Use gestures along with words. Make a variety of sounds including "raspberries" and popping sounds. Encourage Baby to imitate you. Imitate Baby's sounds.

ROCK-A-BYE BABY

Rock-a-bye Baby,On the tree top,When the wind blows,The cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, The cradle will fall.And down will come Baby,Cradle and all.

BLOCKS AND CUPS

Play with blocks and cups. Play with blocks that are different sizes. Blocks can be made of plastic, wood, or fabric. Provide cups to encourage the development of in and out play. Bang the blocks together and bang the blocks on the cups. Pick up the blocks and drop them into the cups. Move the blocks from hand to hand. Hide the blocks in and under the cups.

LANGUAGE ENVIRONMENT

Talk to baby about what you are doing. Use words to describe what Baby is doing. Name family members as they play with Baby. Name toys and objects for Baby as Baby plays.

BUSY TOYS

Play with cause and effect toys. Create a novel action and pause to see if Baby can anticipate. Encourage Baby to make something happen. Play peek-a-boo in response to Baby's action. Help Baby learn that he or she can have an effect in the world.

SING AND RHYME

Sing songs to Baby. Recite nursery rhymes. Hum familiar tunes or make up a song. Hold Baby and move to the music. Make music using rattles or household items such as wooden spoons and pots or pans.

LULLABY AND GOODNIGHT

STUFFED ANIMALS

Play with a variety of stuffed toys and soft dolls. Explore the textures of the soft toys. Add a baby blanket, a play bottle and a baby brush to expand play. Play peek-a-boo with the toys by hiding them under a baby blanket.

BABY BOOKS

Share board books with Baby. Choose books with a wide variety of simple photographs or pictures. Show Baby how to turn the pages. Point to pictures and name them. Encourage Baby to pat the pictures. Read to Baby with feeling in your voice.
